We’re going to start using Stripe as our secure payment processing platform for all payments, so that you receive your money more quickly and reliably.
In addition, with Stripe you'll be able to receive bookings from Lyft app users, ensuring that all transactions meet strict security standards.
In short, we’re making sure everything stays the same so you can carry on working without a hitch!
What is Stripe?
Stripe is a world-leading, secure payment platform trusted by top global services. It processes transactions smoothly and keeps your financial information protected with top-tier security standards.
Why update your payment details?
To keep driving with us and receiving your earnings, you’ll need to update your payment details.
Updating your details takes just 2 minutes, and it ensures we can keep sending you job offers without any interruption. Once completed, your account will be fully active and ready for new offers.
If you don't update your details, we won't be able to send you job offers, and your account could be blocked until your details are updated.
Why is identity verification required?
As part of setting up Stripe, you may be asked to complete a quick identity check. This is a standard security step required by payment regulations to protect your account against fraud and ensure your earnings go straight to the right place: your bank account.
For full details, visit the Stripe FAQ page.
How to update your payment details
- Tap the link in your app or email to go directly to Stripe’s secure page.
- You’ll be set to offline while completing this step, so make sure you’re in a safe spot to pause for a couple of minutes.
- Enter the details for the same bank account you already use with us.
- Once completed, your account will be set, and you can go back online to start receiving offers again.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Stripe uses advanced encryption to protect your personal and financial information. Freenow shares only required info for ID verification. We do not store your ID images.
How Lyft bookings are charged
All Lyft trips are strictly cashless. Payment is handled automatically through the app integration and processed via Stripe.
For your security and to ensure accurate bookkeeping, these transactions must remain digital. If a passenger's payment fails or they insist on paying cash, please politely inform them that we don't allow manual transactions for these trips and ask them to update their payment method in the app.
Accepting cash for a Lyft booking goes against our terms and conditions.
When will I receive the payout from Lyft bookings?
You will receive these earnings automatically, same as your regular weekly payouts, though payout dates may vary.
You’ll receive two separate transfers during your payment week: one from Lyft (international bookings) and your standard transfer from Freenow.
How to view your Lyft payments
There are three ways to view them:
- In the Driver app: check the Earnings section (Balance tab) for a clear breakdown showing both your Freenow and Lyft income sources.
- In Freenow Portal: both the Invoice and Earnings sections will display separate line items for Lyft bookings, making it easy to track all your trips.
- On your invoice: you will continue to receive one single invoice, but it will clearly distinguish between Freenow and Lyft bookings.
