We are excited to share that Lyft (Freenow’s parent company) has reached an agreement to acquire Gett’s UK business.
Gett is a leading black cab app in London with a strong reputation for business-to-business (B2B) services. By bringing Gett into the Lyft family alongside Freenow, we are strengthening our position as the premier mobility platform in the UK and expanding the high-value demand available to our network.
The most important thing to know is that nothing changes for you today. Please review the FAQ below for more details.
FAQ
Q: Is this acquisition impacting my job as a Freenow by Lyft driver?
A: No. We continue to operate as an independent platform. Nothing changes about how you work with us — same app, same processes, same support team.
Q: How will this acquisition impact the Freenow operations in the UK?
A: We remain fully dedicated to our mission and of supporting our driver partners and delivering the best possible service to our drivers and passengers.
Q: Will Freenow by Lyft app merge with Gett?
A: No. Both platforms will continue to operate separately. Think of it as two different brands under the same corporate umbrella. You may notice "Gett by Lyft" branding in the market, but your Freenow experience remains unchanged.
Q: Could the acquisition lead to lower fares or fewer rides for me?
A: We don't anticipate any negative impact on ride volume or pricing. Our business continues to operate independently, with the same focus on keeping you active and earning.
Q: Will my personal data be shared with Gett?
A: No. Your data remains secure within the Freenow platform. This acquisition does not create a data-sharing relationship between the two driver databases. We continue to comply fully with all GDPR and data protection regulations.
